Pastoral Transition – What should you expect?
Nacogdoches First Church of the Nazarene will soon be beginning the transition process to a new lead pastor.
On February 24th, Rev. Ray McDowell (Assistant District Superintendent – South Texas District) will be preaching in both services. After service, he will meet with the board to begin the transition process.
Dr. Jeffery Johnson (District Superintendent – South Texas District) will bring pastoral applicant resumes to the board for review. After much prayer, the board will vote on who to interview. They will then interview candidates via Skype and in-person before selecting one to go before the church.
The selected Pastor will then come visit Nac Naz to preach during Sunday Service. You will be asked to pray about and consider this candidate for 2 weeks, after which an election for all church members will take place. Any new pastoral candidate must receive a two-thirds vote from the congregation to be accepted as the new Lead Pastor of Nac Naz.
We ask that all members of the congregation continue to pray for unity within the church and that God will lead the right candidate to Nac Naz.
